Kuna Indian Legends and Stories Project
I have been friends with a Kuna family for a very ong time and have had the privelidge of attending a Womanhood celebration, a Chicha and other events. What I find interesting the most is the Kuna's bright and fantastic view of the otherworld and their rituals to honor their ancestors. This month (February 2009) I am in Panama and will be spending some time in San Blas as well as meeting with Kuna in Panama City and interviewing them about Kuna culture. The idea is to collect individual stories, with that person's view point, about their history, their legends and their beliefs. Please note that I am doing this project with the permission and blessing of the island chiefs who govern the area I will be visiting.

Making Masks For The Masquerade
With the Good Faeries/Bad Faeries masquerade coming up, I tried my hand at mask making... and considering that I was not very ambitious, I think they turned out not too bad for a first time:

Mine...

And Alec's.

Random Graphics I Made When I Was Bored Last Night

I have a rug that looks like this but in Autumn colors.

A retro tattoo style graphic.

This is a graphic I made to be the link
to my Book Of Shadows, but it just didn't
quite work out.

Costume Design Ideas For Faerieworlds 2008
For my first Faerieworlds I wanted to design something special, but since I was helping a friend in her booth, I needed something functional and simple instead. The original designs were pretty eleborate:
Photo Of Good Faerie Design

The Good Faerie design was a silky kind of Goddess dress that would be draped in three large pleats at the neck and fall on a bias cut. The idea was to hand dye the fabric to get that watercolor look and then add a few dripping "crystals" to the dress to faerie it out.
Photo Of Bad Faerie Design
The Bad Faerie design I was influenced by the Harajuku gothic lolita look. An emerald green and black striped corset with a "legend" collar and a thigh length full skirt with ruffled underskirt. I took a little inspiration from Gothic lolita looks and Tim Burton movies.

New Maralily Website
As you might have noticed, the look and content has changed! With the help of a very talented graphics designer Jolie Designs, I have a snazzy new website with much prettier graphics than before. I have changed a lot in the last year and I wanted a new website that looked like that change. With my "born again paganism" and more positive outlook on life, the graphics reflect that. However, if you want a dose of the old sarcasmic snark... maralisms are still here.
